Anyway, I’ve been looking at the reactivated PUNK magazine. Ms Amy Allison scored one for me and sent it on over. It’s no secret what an inspiration on NBT that the original was. Mr Holmstrom’s handlettering that made me think that maybe I’d get away with that, not being one for typewriters and all. Put that together with a pile of papers stapled in one corner and whaddaya got?#19 has come out on the tail end of the whole CB’s shutdown. The word PUNK has changed out of all recognition but the fire is obviously still in the belly of it’s publisher. You should support John Holmstrom because if it weren’t for him and his crew then a lot of what you know (and cling to) simply wouldn’t exist. The photo of Dee Dee wearing a Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt is worth the admission price alone. Hopefully future issues might feature Kitty and the Kowalskis, The Star Spangles and the new front-line of rock’n’roll that NYC has to offer... See to it that the title has that future.

Dude, is our new issue that BAD??? That this is the best you could say??? Buy it for the pic of "Dee Dee in a Lynnyrd Skynrd t-shirt?"
I mean we got contributions from original contributors lke Bruce Carleton, Ken Weiner (Avidor), and Romagnoli...
And I had been waiting five years to write that story about Johnny Heff and The Bullys. Sorry if it didn't reach you. But for a lot of people in the New York rock 'n' roll scene, it meant a lot. This is a NYC rock legend, a punk rocker who died--saving others--on 9/11. If you read that story? And still psoted a comment like that?
You must have a fucking heart of stone.
But I know better than that, so I know you'll take a second look at that issue.
We got stories on GREAT NYC bands like Peelander-Z, Two Man Advanage, The Cyclones, Turbo AC's etc. (These bands were chosen to close the ladst weekend at The Continental! They're important NYC punk rock bands--even if you never heard of them!)
yeah, I wish we'd covered The Kowlaskis, Charm School etc. But we hope to do so soon. (And we did give Ms. Kitty's CD a good review--didja see that?)
Really, you got to check out the bands we covered before you cover us with faint praise... And ignore them!
Thanks,
-JH
PS If you still think the new issue sucks? Please review it in detail and tell me why and where. But please don't run a review that's wimpy.
