I think that after this one we have to move on. John's departure is sad and all but life goes on and you could maybe use some light relief right about now. It is, after all, International Talk Like A Pirate Day, me hearties!

Yeah, Johnny's the last person who'd want too much focus on his passing. Time to move on. The Rolling Stone piece seems to date from around July this year. The book he did with Steve Miller of the Washington Times will be an intriguing read I'm sure once it's published, as will be Danny Field's book and Charlotte & Mickey Leigh's etc etc.....
There's probably more interest in the Ramones now than there ever was but there's a real risk, in my view, that a lot of the focus will be on picking over their bones sadly. I just hope people remember to put the music well and truly first and the insider squabbles etc to one side.
Johnny's view was "I've had a great life, no matter how it turns out now". I hope that's also how Dee Dee and Joey felt at the end too.

Martin, I didn't realise that RS was from the summer. thanks for pointing that out. I think that the WP piece that you provide a link to here is the best place to wind all this up. In the end it was the music that matters but the background incidentals will probably be dragged through the 'hood from time to time. It comes with the territory of having created a legacy like these guys did.
