'Tis utter madness down in the West End of London at the moment. Still, for those with a thirst for vinyl bargains there are rich pickings to be had. While HMV might be too much of a scramble, an easier time can be had in Borders. For instance, in the branch on Charring Cross Road, I scored the Zombies Heaven boxset at half price and the Byrds' Preflyte re-issue on Poptones for not much more than the price of a pint of beer. Chancing my arm, I then walked over to the flagship store on Oxford Street and headed to the music department on the top floor. Sadly there was nothing more enticing than the usual "2 for 20 quid" deals but it was damn cool to hear "What Gives" by Radio Birdman bash the lug 'oles as I stepped off of the escalator. Good to see that no fellow shoppers headed for the exits as "Man With Golden Helmet" and "Do The Pop" proceeded to assault the senses. Is this a sign for 2004?
