So it's Joey's birthday. Can it really be 6 years + since he passed? Jings.

I'm sure all of the folks that attend the shindig at Irving Plaza tonight will have a high ol' time. An event even more poignant because of his mother joining him earlier this year.

Was going to try and catch the 12.40 screening of Zodiac but can't really find the energy. Maybe tomorrow or then again... might be an opportunity to catch up on what I've been meaning to blog. I'm kind of sick of the sound of my own keypad but we'll see how it goes.

Meanwhile, here are a few links to keep you amused...

Wonder how the NYL show went last night... meanwhile check out the Ferriday Fireball's ("the world's best forgotten boys") shakedown of "Loose".

That'll keep you going for now. Some review action coming up sooner or later.

    from the pen of Dave Frey taken from the RAMONES website, working on the new Ramones dvd - I spoke to George Seminara the other day and I dont think this listing is final, but heres roughly whats coming ..... soon !

    This has been overwhelming, making all the clearances work. Here is what's in the Avid and being rendered at the highest quality possible from the source masters. There is a possiblity that 10% of this won't make it as some of the people we're getting footage from haven't signed off. The US release date, that will likely be moved back a few weeks because we're late, is 08/14.

    Sorry to take so long to post.

    To address some of the questions;

    It might be pushed back 2 to 4 weeks tops. Rhino is all about having it in stores before school's back in session.

    We have spent a lot of time and money doing expensive tape to tape transfers only from the source footage. Also George is using the best technology has to offer for color correction, contrast correction, and audio enhancement.

    Concerning releases in other territories, the solicitation went out yesterday so we will see who elects to release it; where and when around the world.

    Unfortunately the 1975 practice space footage that is in Richard Robinson's possession was too expensive. The $32,000 that his attorney's quoted was not negotiable. 8 spongs in less than 17 minutes. RPI paid to have it transfered at the highest quality and upon seeing and hearing it (w/Tommy) we all were very disappointed. Apparently the audio didn't weather the years well. It was horribly distorted. Tommy felt that it would be good to have one song in the title but Robinson's attorney wouldn't consider that.

    Unfortunately the Leno and Letterman performances fell into the unaffordable category too. The quotes were $6,000 per minute which is less expensive than Robinson, but still not within our budget.

    George will post at some point about Uncle Floyd.

    I can't comment about the Oakland/Winterland credit. Joe Rees (the shooter) is insisting that it be credited that way for a reason.

    "Sheena" and "Rockaway Beach" from the It's Alive gig may be added. Nick Abson cut those two songs as promo to push the film before things went south at that time. The promo masters are missing and the tapes we have are very inferior. The inferior stuff may end up on there anyway.

    After this title has it's time in the stores RPI is going to release full shows/series of shows so that there's a steady IV drip of Ramones live videos at the best quality possible over the next 6 to 12 years. The stand alones shows will have interviews and whatever else we can pack in there; the Danny Fields footage is so massive that it may have to be a double; 180 minutes of 1977 footage, an interview with Danny about it, etc. We hope to make them all special.
