While Rhino is set to release an "alternative" 80s box-set entitled Left Of The Dial, we here at NBT are more eagerly lookin' forward to the long promised Children Of Nuggets set, tho' there's some serious head scratchin' goin' on over some of the more dubious selections that made it to the set's shortlist. Comments on this?.

  2. Right, what I was trying to say there was that this was my shortlist for a potential 80s Nuggets set. Still looks rather solid IMHO...

That C.O.N. set does boast a rather surprising tracklisting! Actually, I'm surprised that there's enuff great stuff to even put a box together! I'd question the picks of Plimsouls (what, no Zero Hour?) and Prisoners (huh, where's Nobody Wants Your Love?), among many others ... Where's the Wylde Mammoths, You Am I, Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Thanes, Oblivians, Muffs, 68 Comeback, Compulsive Gamblers, Hellacopters etc etc etc etc???????? Gaaah, Primal Scream and That Petrol Emotion?!?!? Fuck RIGHT off! Seems a VERY So.Cal-o-centric selection, and I have no doubt that any NBT reader could put together a far better selection ... Shame that this box will undoubtedly get reviewed in the 'right' (i.e. wrong) places, and thus codify 'the movement' in a far worse way than all'a those 'beat Nazis' who think that The Standells' haircuts are the apex of mondern civilisation ever did ... Balls! Joss
