these were filmed at 22 St Peter's Square, (Island Records' headquarters) in the video studio by Scott Milaney. It was a new venture and the Hot Rods were (more or less) the guinea pigs. I don't think any other record companies had their own video facility at this time. The room was also used for sales meetings and was where about 25 of us saw Elvis Costello for the first time, just before his first album was released. He was inroduced, plugged in, and did about 25 of the most intense minutes I'd seen anyone do, solo. He clearly did not want to be there and it wasn't long before the veins in his neck were bulging and he was as red as a beetroot, dripping in sweat. He laid the room to waste. The sales force mostly went WTF? after he and Jake had left the building.
