It's actually snowed overnight so that should present some fun in getting around today.

How about that, the weather report was actually right(ish) for once. Let's hear it for "severe disruption across Britain". Provided that you're not stuck in it or have been affected.

What...is this the first snowfall for ya this winter? Sheesh...we've still got a little under a foot of snow to melt away here in Chicago! Just a few days ago, it was about 18"! (Please pardon the post...I'm working an overnight shift here at the morgue an' I'm startin' to poop out).

WE get next to no snow here anymore but we make up for that in rain. Or so it seems. However, the south of England ground to a halt after 6 inches of the white gear today. The UK is pathetic, basically. The last decent snowfall I recall was 1978 I think...

In some places - Chicago maybe? - this sort of weather is commonplace in the winter. Here in London where I am we haven't had snow anything like this in 20 years. If the authorities spent money on snow ploughs that sat in a garage untouched for two decades the tax payers might be right in thinking that was a bad way to spend money. So when the extreme (to us) weather comes along we just have to make do as best we can. If you have this kind of weather every year it makes financial sense to be prepared to deal with it quickly.
