Nikki was due to play with the Jacobites (Dave Kusworth and co) this wednesday at the 12 bar in london. The gig is still going ahead - dave and some friends will do the gig in memory of nikki.
I just wrote a card to Nikki's folks...yes, this is awful news. Yet, it comes to all of us, does it not? To be honest, at this time I am a little grateful for having chosen the very slow lane in later years...it might allow be to see my children grown and married. It's funny now, isn't it, reflecting on those many years ago when we would all congregate at Rough Trade. Well, Nikki lived as he pleased and did create some wonderful music. I am more used now to the death of a peer than I was when Epic passed - that really shocked and upset me. Now I am more stoical, but I will never remember Nikki with less than love and admiration, both richly deserved. Our last two songs together will be finished and released later this year as part of a Buffalo Bill 2 effort.
